Belgian Kim Clijsters may soon take over Wozniackis first place though the Dane’s camp has down played the posibility choosing to take it easy instead.
Next week may see Caroline Wozniacki losing her number one place in the world to the hard-hitting Belgian Super player Kim Clijsters.
For while Dane spends time at the training in Monaco, Belgium able to capture first place at a WTA tournament in Paris.
It is not something that shakes Wozniacki camp.
- We hope that she can remain number one a few months or weeks yet, but it is not an ambition in itself to maintain the position, she will surely become number two or three at a time anyway, says father and trainer Piotr Wozniacki Jyllands-Posten.
After the missed match point and the infuriating semifinal defeat in last week’s big grand slam tournament Australian Open, is Caroline Wozniacki come back down to earth and out on the training ground.
Now, keeping the focus on improving wins battles, says her father.
- She has achieved one of its stated goal of being number one, but it’s only happened because we always have only focused on making her better and not let ourselves be carried away by all the talk about her, says Piotr Wozniacki.
Looking ahead to Caroline Wozniacki focus on training and the smaller tournaments, where she was on a good week participating in the minor tournament Dubai Tennis Championship.
- You just play and try to evolve over the long term plans, and one does not in a grand slam because the requirements and conditions are so special. Therefore, the small tournaments as important as large ones, says Piotr Wozniacki.
